Design Process
Why hire a designer?

Knowledge of plants, flowers, trees and shrubs- A good designer uses appropriate plants in landscaping a
yard to bring about the best results. For some that means a long flowering season, for others that means very
little maintenance. Plant Joy is always striving to add interesting, vibrant plant choices to your design!

Ideas- Many people have a vision of what they would like to see and do in their yard but they don't know
how to implement or design it on their own. Sometimes all that's needed is a clear starting point and specific
steps to implementation. Whimsical details add delight to an already landscaped yard.

Attention to a client's wishes- The first step in any functional design is to find out from a client all about
what they use their yard for and what their vision is for their landscaping. For a sampling of questions that
Plant Joy uses to determine this vision, view our Landscaping Survey.
Designing your landscaping- Steps to success
  1. Initial consultation- this include going over the Final design in person and a perusal of a client's current
    landscaping/ yard
  2. Survey of yard in order to draw a to-scale design
  3. Concept design is created and discussed with client (This step may be repeated several times depending on the
complexity of the design and/ or the size of the yard)
  4. Final design is given to the client, along with a customized plant list and landscape contractor recommendations
  5. Design process usually takes between 2 and 6 weeks to complete from start to finish
