Consultative Appointments






           Someone who may want to make part of their yard more functional; perhaps the kids have
    outgrown the swing set or sandbox, the dog doesn't prefer his dog run anymore, or there is just
    too much grass to maintain?

            Someone who wants to add a bit of the whimsical to their landscaping; a bubbling fountain,
    Japanese rock garden, pond, or children's play area are all elements that compliment a yard.

            Someone who just doesn't know where to begin renovating or starting to landscape their
    yard; for relatively little money Plant Joy is able to provide a starting point for your landscaping
    by making educational plant choices for you.
Design
An actual landscape design is an option for nearly
everyone that owns their home. With a finished design, a
homeowner can hire a landscape contractor to
implement their custom design or they can work on it
themselves. The design will specify for them all of the
hardscaping (walls, pathways, patios, trellis', etc.) that
should be implemented as well as the plant material they
will need. It will have specific recommendations for the
color and variety of plant material as well as how many
to purchase. While doing the work on your own will save
you money initially, hiring a contractor will save you
hours of time and work. An average design should take a
contractor less than a week to implement-what a reward
to see a bland landscape turn into something beautifully
created according to your needs and desires! The price
for a customized design varies- typically it will cost
between $700-$1800. This figure is based on a $50 per
hour rate, which includes meeting to discuss the design
elements, surveying the site, drawing the concept and
initial designs, and the research that goes into the
design.
Plant Delivery
Another service that Plant Joy offers is the purchase and delivery of specific plants, right to your
door (or backyard). Often times, clients will use this service in conjunction with a  Consultatative
appointment because it saves a homeowner the hassle of going to several nurseries to pick out
attractive plants. Once a plant materials list is determined, it usually only takes a couple of days
to one week to receive your plants, right at your doorstep. The cost for this service is inclusive in
the price of the plants and is therefore dependent upon how many and what type of plants are
needed. A fee of $75 applies per delivery.
Who could benefit from professional consultation?
Counter
An initial consultation includes an on-site visit to assess the client's current landscaping. In the
consultative appointment,  plant material appropriate for the current landscape is suggested after
discussing a short survey. This type of appointment costs $100 and usually takes about an hour to an
hour and a half. If the client decides to proceed with a design for their landscape, this fee can be
used towards the deposit on the design process. For clients wishing to receive more detailed
instructions on where and how to plant their current landscape as well as photos of the proposed plant
material, a follow-up report can be created for an additional $50. Again, if further design is
necessary, this fee can also be applied to the deposit on a design.
